Lionel Messi was so unfortunate at the match with Liverpool on the 7th of May, 2019. He broke down in tears in the away dressing room at Anfield after Liverpool dumped Barcelona out of the Champions League, reports say.
The Barcelona talisman could only watch as Liverpool tore through his side and scored four goals without reply in the second leg of their semi-final. Messi has scored twice in a 3-0 win at the Nou Camp a week before, but was reduced just a few moments of brilliance against Liverpool. Alisson saved one of his efforts while Luis Suarez and Philippe Coutinho missed chances to grab Barcelona an all-important away goal at Anfield. Messi was then called upon to undergo a doping test and was still crying as he made his way to doping officials in another room, according to the Independent. Barcelona’s team bus left Anfield without Messi on board, as the doping test took too long, and the Argentina international was then the victim of verbal abuse at John Lennon Airport. A group of Barcelona fans hurled insults at Messi, prompting 31-year-old to ask the supporters what he had done to anger them.
