Exclusive Interview with Hennyholla:
Interviewer: Welcome, Hennyholla. Let's start from the beginning. How did your musical journey begin?
Hennyholla: Thank you. My journey into music started during my secondary school days at Life Baker Secondary School in Ijoko Lemode. I discovered my love for singing back then and started writing songs based on my experiences.
Interviewer: Interesting! Do you come from a family of musicians?
Hennyholla: Not at all. In fact, I'm the only musical artist in my entire family. My dad always says that no one in our family lineage — both from his side and my mum's — has ever ventured into music. So, I'm kind of breaking that pattern.
Interviewer: That's bold! Were your parents supportive despite the uniqueness of your path?
Hennyholla: Yes, thankfully. Even though it's a new terrain for them, they've been very supportive of my career and choices in music. Their support keeps me going.
Interviewer: That's beautiful. Who would you say is your biggest musical influence?
Hennyholla: That would be Olamide. I've been his fan for years. I can practically sing all his songs from 2009 till now. He's inspired me not just musically but personally. His consistency, humility, and the way he gives platforms to young artists — I really admire that.
Interviewer: What qualities of Olamide do you hope to reflect in your own career?
Hennyholla: I pray to have the kind of heart he has — a heart that lifts others. When I become a big superstar, I want to be that person who gives opportunities to other artists. We rise by lifting others.
Interviewer: That's a strong statement. Let's talk about lifestyle. Many young artists face pressures from the industry. How do you manage that?
Hennyholla: To be honest, I've had my moments. There was a time I almost derailed, trying to mirror the lifestyle of some of my favorite artists and all. But I've come to realize that it's not necessary. Especially when younger people look up to us as role models. As artists, we have a responsibility. I believe we can be cool and creative without promoting habits that could mislead the youth.
Interviewer: Wise words. Outside of inspiration from artists like Olamide, where else do you draw inspiration for your music?
Hennyholla: From life. My personal experiences, the things I see every day, people's stories — everything around me inspires my music. I write from the heart and try to connect with real emotions and situations.
Interviewer: Are your songs available on streaming platforms?
Hennyholla: Yes, they are. You can find my songs on Apple Music, Boomplay, and other major platforms. Just search for "Hennyholla."
Interviewer: Amazing! Before we wrap up, as a graduate of Ekiti State University, what message do you have for other young graduates who want to explore creative fields?
Hennyholla: I'd say go for it. Don't let your background or the unfamiliarity of your dream stop you. If you love it, pursue it. Be true to yourself and never forget your values.
