 Ado-Odo/Ota Inaugurates Multi-Stakeholder Committee on Roads



The Transition Chairman of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government Area, Alhaji Lawal Wasiu has on Tuesday 12th of January inaugurated a Multi-Stakeholder Committee on Road Infrastructure in the Local Government.


According the Council Boss in his address, the constitution of the Committee is part of the measures taken to address the #FixOtaRoad protest led by the Youths and Civil Society organisations in the Local Government last year. "This committee was constituted to urgently respond to the yearnings of youths and concerned indigenes of the Local Government and some residents who are not happy with the deplorable state of roads within Ota and it's environs" he said.



Alhaji Lawal charged the Committee to explore public private partnership in fixing of the roads. The committee which comprises of eminent personalities from various industries, civil society members and the traditional institution has it's Chairman as TPL Waheed Kadiri, a retired Civil Servant and former Rector of Moshood Abiola Polytechnic, Abeokuta. Other members include Dr. Mrs Tayo George, Director of Community Initiatives of Covenant University, Isaac Ogbah, immediate past Chairman of Nigerian Bar Association, Ota Branch, Elegberun Motunrayo, Executive Secretary of Manufacturers Association of Nigeria, Ogun State Branch and Engr. Adediran Olukokun of Kokun Integrated Engineering Services. Abayomi Oke-Asiwaju,a Social Activist and Convener of Ota Change Agents, Jumoke Odeyemi, Chairperson of Ota Civil Society on Roads, Arc. Wale Salako, a renowned Architect and Transport Management expert, Engr. Adeleke, Director of Works, Prince S.I Dada, Director of General Services and Administration, Mr. Salami, Director of Water and Environmental Sanitation of Ado-Odo/Ota Local Government, Commander Ajibade Adekunle, Ota Area Commander of TRACE and Oba Clement Akinyemi, Ajana of Ijana Ota are also members of the Committee.



In his response after the inauguration, the Chairman of the Committee, TPL. Waheed Kadiri promised to work together with other members of the committee to achieve the vision of the Local Government Chairman. He acknowledged that the task is a thankless job but will be carried out with all sense of responsibility and patriotism.



After the official inauguration, the Committee held their inaugural meeting in the conference room of the Local Government Secretariat.
